High School who have been accepted to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Explore STEM. Explore STEM is an Envision program for high-achieving middle school students. These students were nominated by local teachers and staff. They were selected based upon their abilities to maintain high grades, show interest in STEM subjects, and demonstrate a high level of maturity and responsibility. This forum will provide these students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills used in emergency medicine, robotics, forensic science, and civil engineering.
A Mission to Mars project is planned to challenge their knowledge of STEM skills and ability to work as a team, while being mentored by professionals from NASA and Discovery Education. 2,500 per student and related expenses. The tuition covers room and board at Villanova University campus during the week of June 24, 2018. The tuition does not cover any other costs or fees such as transportation or clothing as per dress code. Any funds contributed are placed in an account which has oversight to ensure that the funds are used only for the required tuition and expenses of the four students. The students who have been nominated and accepted are: Mackenzie Cannon, Gabriel Grover, Madison Moss, and Aidan Thurston.
Successful completion of the Forum guarantees the students future educational opportunities that are not typically available in our area. Each student will take away individual benefits from the Forum that will have a lifelong effect on them and the communities that they live in. Each of the four students has leadership abilities and contributions they have already made to our community. Contributions are payable to STEM Group and can be mailed to: STEM Group, P.
